James Lin
Chief Financial OfficerJames Lin brings more than two decades of senior financial leadership experience across academic medicine, physician networks, managed care, and healthcare technology organizations. A Certified Public Accountant, he offers deep expertise in clinical finance, financial planning and analysis, revenue cycle management, physician compensation, and complex healthcare system integration, with a career spanning Fortune 10 enterprises, national physician groups, and nonprofit health systems.
Throughout his career, James has held executive finance roles within some of California’s most prominent healthcare organizations. Most recently, he served as a California Regional Chief Financial Officer for Providence Clinical Network, where he was responsible for finance, accounting, and decision support and partnered with regional leadership to advance financial performance and operational alignment across a complex, multi-entity organization.
Prior to Providence, James served as Chief Financial Officer of the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group, one of the nation’s largest pediatric multi-specialty physician groups. There, he oversaw finance, accounting, decision support, payer contracting, and revenue cycle operations, while partnering closely with physician leadership and Board members to enhance transparency, operational efficiency, and long-term financial sustainability.
Before CHLA, James spent over seven years with OptumCare, part of UnitedHealth Group, where he served as Chief Financial Officer for both OptumCare Orange County and its employed multi-specialty medical group. In these roles, he supported large-scale physician networks operating under global risk and value-based care models, driving significant improvements in operating income, contract performance, and system integration across managed care, IPA, and clinic operations.
James’s background also includes executive leadership positions in healthcare technology and diagnostic imaging, where he guided organizations through growth, restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and financial turnarounds. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles in corporate accounting, SEC reporting, and financial planning within publicly traded healthcare and technology companies, as well as auditing roles at Deloitte & Touche.
At UCR Health, James serves as Chief Financial Officer, supporting the financial stewardship of clinical operations in alignment with the academic mission of the UC Riverside School of Medicine. His work focuses on strengthening financial infrastructure, supporting sustainable growth, and ensuring data-driven decision-making that advances patient access, clinical excellence, and long-term organizational resilience.
James holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Washington. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and former Treasurer of the Children’s Specialty Care Coalition.
